The Television Academy and the Alliance of Women Directors are presenting Finding the Funny in New York today at 1 p.m. Eastern time. The hands-on workshop is designed for members of the Academy’s Directors and Performers peer groups.
Two-time Emmy-winning director Mary Lou Belli is scheduled to lead exercises on identifying a joke, shaping comedic timing and directing short scenes. The event description frames the session as practical craft training rather than a public performance.
The workshop requires an RSVP, photo identification and a digital Academy membership card, and it does not admit guests. This notice reports the published program and access conditions without implying attendance or quoting remarks that have not yet been made.
