ESPN Films’ Portrait of an Artist: Stephen Curry begins an exclusive IMAX theatrical engagement today. The documentary follows Curry as he approaches and reaches 4,000 career three-pointers during a game against the Sacramento Kings at Chase Center.
Gotham Chopra directed the film, which Disney says used 21 IMAX cameras around the arena to cover Curry’s preparation and the milestone game. The documentary also includes contributions from Viola Davis, Rick Rubin, Patti Smith and Jon Batiste about artistry and innovation.
The release information establishes the subject, production approach and opening date, not an assessment of the film. Theater participation and showtimes vary by market, so viewers should confirm local IMAX listings before traveling.
