Pet Shop Boys have released A man from the future through Parlophone Records today. The eight-part work was created with Alan Turing biographer Andrew Hodges and traces significant stages in the mathematician and cryptanalyst’s life.
The recording features the Manchester Camerata Octet and narration by Juliet Stevenson. Sven Helbig contributed string arrangements and co-produced the new version, while Maarten Vos supplied additional production, programming and synthesizers.
The project was first performed at the BBC Proms in 2014 and has since been revised. Its arrival on vinyl, CD and digital formats makes this a new recorded edition of an earlier concert work rather than an entirely new composition.
