Film at Lincoln Center says the 64th New York Film Festival will host the world premiere of a new 4K restoration of Gone to Earth in its Revivals section. The 1950 film was directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and stars Jennifer Jones.
According to the festival, Walt Disney Studios restored the film in association with The Film Foundation, with participation from the British Film Institute, the George Eastman Museum and the Museum of Modern Art. The restoration draws on surviving film materials to bring Powell and Pressburger’s original Technicolor version back to the screen.
A revival can give an audience a chance to see a familiar title as a newly preserved object, with its color and texture part of the experience. Screening details and ticket availability should be checked on the festival’s official schedule.
