Karandeep Anand begins work October 2 as The Walt Disney Company’s senior executive vice president and chief technology officer, a newly created position. Disney says he will report to chief executive Josh D’Amaro.
The company places enterprise technology, infrastructure, data and AI platforms, product and engineering within Anand’s responsibilities. It also says members of the Character.AI technical team are expected to join Disney, where Anand most recently served as chief executive.
The appointment signals a company-wide technology brief rather than a role tied to one studio or service. What it produces for audiences and creative teams will depend on later decisions; today’s confirmed development is the leadership change and the scope Disney has assigned to it.
