CBS named Rick Devens the winner of Big Brother season 28 during the October 1 live finale. The network says he received the $750,000 grand prize over runner-up Taylor Brown and was also selected by viewers as America’s Favorite Player.

In the same announcement, CBS renewed Big Brother for two additional summers, carrying the series through season 30. That is a forward commitment to the format; it is not yet a schedule or cast announcement for either upcoming season.

CBS also describes season 28 as the program’s thousandth-episode milestone. Audience measurements in the release are network-reported figures, while the finale result and renewal are the concrete developments viewers can take from the announcement.
